Four countries Uganda, Burundi, Kenya and South Sudan have so far confirmed that they will be represented during the forthcoming 2023 Genocide memorial volleyball tournament slated for June 24-25.

The annual tournament is organized in honor of volleyball players, coaches, administrators and fans who were killed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
FRVB is one of the sports federations that have consistently been organising memorial tournaments since 1995.
Gisagara, APR, Rwanda Energy Group (REG), Police, IPRC-Ngoma,IPRC-Musanze-Kirehe and KVC have confirmed their participation in men’s tournament while APR, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), Police, Ruhango, IPRC-Kigali and IPRC-Huye will take part in women’s fray.
The local teams will be joined by foreign clubs from the four countries that honored Rwanda’s invitation.
REG and APR will be looking to defend the title they won in 2022 in their respective men and women’s categories.
The Genocide memorial volleyball tournament was initiated by former Rwanda international Antoine Sebalinda after his brother Dominique Sebalinda was killed during Genocide, alongside other national team players.
The volleyball fraternity counts over 50 members who lost their lives during the genocide against Tutsi in 1994.
