Bugesera FC new signing Gahungu Habarurema has said he is ready for the new challenge as he prepares for new life in the Eastern Province-based club colors.

Gahungu is one of a number of players that Police FC released at the end of the season. He moved to Bugesera FC after he reached an agreement to play for the club on a two-year-deal that will run until June 2025.

The shot stopper told Times Sport that it was time for him to look for a new challenge for his football career after four seasons at Police.

"It’s a new challenge which I believe we shall both embrace with open arms. I want to repay the trust that the coach and club committee have shown me,” he said in an interview.

"This move has come at the right time for me to leave the Police and find a new challenge and I am happy for this opportunity to play for Bugesera. I have enjoyed my time in Police and I feel that I am ready to serve my new club,” he added.

Gahungu is one new signings that Bugesera has made so far during the ongoing transfer market.

The club also signed Trésor Muhoza from Mukura VS, Aime Gakiza and Gilbert Bibe, both from Burundian side Flambeau du Centre, as well as Leonard Gakwaya and Theodore Ngabirano from New Oil.

But Eric Nshimiyimana’s side is not done with transfer business yet.

Club boss Jean Claude Gahigi told to Times Sport that they are working on a major rebuild after surviving relegation in the final league match of the 2022/23 season campaign where they finished 13th with 32 points, just two points clear of the relegation zone.
