Gasigwa ready to impress in Bujumbura

Top Rwandan tennis player, Jean Claude Gasigwa goes into this year’s International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures tournament first leg in Bujumbura.The tournament will run from November 12-18, at the Entetive Sportive courts. Rwanda will be represented by Gasigwa and Dieudonne Habiyambere."We are ready for the competition and we are determined to win. For me, this time I want to improve my individual performance. We have been doing well in some tournaments and in training, I feel good about our chance,” Gasigwa said.The 29-year-old, together with Habiyambere is part of 61 contenders for the grand prize of (US$ 10.000).While, Gasingwa and Habiyambere begin their campaign on Monday, the tournament starts today with qualifying round matches.Last year, Gasigwa suffered a first round exit after losing to Great Brit­ain’s Ross-Hurt Dominic 3-6, 5-7. Hee hopes to better that display."I’m sure we are still going to come up against very experienced players in Bujumbura but we have worked hard in training and hopefully, we shall get value for the hard work we have put in over the last few weeks,” added Rwanda’s top seed.From Burundi, players will return to Kigali for the second and third legs. The second leg (Rwanda F1 Futures) is slated to run from No­vember 19 -25 followed by the third leg (Rwanda F2 Futures) from No­vember 26 – December 2.
