Capital Markets Advisory Council (CMAC) is upbeat as more Rwandans start gaining confidence in trading at the Rwanda Over The Counter Market. Céléstine Rwabukumba, the operational manager at CMAC said so far 36 transactions worth Frw128 million in bonds have been traded.

He attributes the active business to the awareness being created among Rwandans. At least 1,700 people have been sensitised countrywide. And, some of them have participated in the trading.

During the sensitisation workshops, participants are taught topics like the role of capital market to the state, individuals and companies.

Rwabukumba said the aim is to help investors make informed decisions.

"A well functioning market will insure that both corporations and investors get or receive fair prices for their securities,” he said.
