Rwanda’s national cycling team (Team Rwanda) go into this year’s Africa Championships seeking to improve on last year’s sixth place finish in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.The championships run from November 6 (today) till in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Team Rwanda left the country on Sunday night. After the continental championships, the team will embark on preparations for this month’s Tour de Rwanda race.According to Rwanda Cycling Federation media officer, Egide Mugisha, who travelled with the team, the delegation arrived in Ouagadougou safely and used Monday for training ahead of today’s big kick-off."We arrived safely. Everyone is sound and well. The riders are in good shape and ready for the challenge with a target of improving on last year’s performance,” Mugisha told Times Sport.Team Rwanda is made up of Adrien Niyonshuti, Abraham Ruhumuriza, Janvier Hadi and Joseph Biziyaremye, while Valens Ndayisenga will compete in the junior category. Before departure, team skipper Niyonshuti said that they are ready for the challenge and they want to do better than in previous editions."We are determined and for me, this time I want to improve my individual performance. I have been doing well in training, I feel good about my chances this time,” the 25–year-old said.
