The President of electoral commission has asked women to smooth the progress of the up coming elections since they are the majority of the population.

Chrysologue Karangwa told women who were in the National women Council General Assemble at St. Francois in Kicukiro during the weekend that they should be part of the people to be elected, as well as those electing.

"Women in the country are over 75 percent, if well organized and have a will, where you want to put the society is where it can go,” Karangwa said.

Adding if all women had common goal, they would have a strong influence or else destroy the society. He added that their influence would depend on women knowing that, they have a big role. He said that if they don’t know their role, they cannot achieve anything.

The big number of women does not help, unless they have a goal, therefore women have to use the power they have to mobilize people and their fellow women towards government developmental programmes and elect the right people.

"We are mobilizing people to love their country as to vote for the right people. Look at the capability not differences between people,” Karangwa reminded the women. He also said that women should be part of the leadership at all levels. They should not only be MPs, but intervene at different levels of leadership.

Karangwa said that women’s participation is an important issue; it is even the first objectives, to make people know that elections is their role and the leadership itself is theirs.
