NORTHERN PROVINCE

GICUMBI — Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) grassroots leaders in Gicumbi district yesterday setup their bid for the forthcoming elections of the Chamber of Deputies slated for September.

They included village, cell, sector and specialized cells leaders.

Addressing the members, Domitila Mukantaganzwa, the Northern Province RPF commissioner advised them to sensitise party members to turn out in large numbers during the elections.

"You should all turn up in large numbers to vote for our Deputies," said Mukantaganzwa, who is also the Executive Secretary for Gacaca Jurisdictions.

The elections will be conducted for Women, Disabled and Youth representatives. The meeting also presented a list of campaign managers among them mobilisers, publicists and coordinators.

During the same meeting, the members formed committees that would penetrate through villages across the district. "Government vision is at village (Mudugudu) level, which is why we have to visit and evaluate all RPF development projects at that level," added Mukantaganzwa.

Ildephonse Butera, the District vice Mayor for economic affairs and senior party member at the district observed that their party development programmes such as One Cow-One Family has helped to eradicate poverty among residents.

He said over 1250 cattle are to be given to beneficiary families starting next Monday. And urged party faithful at all levels to assist in identifying genuine beneficiaries to get the animals. "All development projects in the country are as a result of RPF vision," said Butera.

Also present was the district RPF vice chairperson Agnes Mukangirawonsanga, party Deputies Jean Marie Vianey Gatabazi and Edward Sebushumba among others.
