SC Kiyovu head coach Jean Baptist Kayiranga has praised his team’s response to last week’s defeat to Police after beating Mukura at the weekend to move five points clear at the top of the league table standing. After seeing their unbeaten run brought to a halt last week, Kiyovu responded by beating Mukura 1-0 for their sixth win in seven matches, thanks to Jabir Mutarambirwa’s sole effort Kayiranga congratulated his players for the win."Most of my players are not experienced but I am happy with the way they are playing. They seem to be enjoying their football."Sometimes it is difficult for the young players especially coming off a defeat, but they responded in the best way possible and as coach, I couldn’t ask for more,” the 46-year-old told Times Sport. He added, "The target is to win the league but it won’t be easy, however, we shall fight until the end. We just need to keep winning our matches and see where we end up at the end of the season.” Kiyovu’s last league win was in 1993, but Kayiranga is confident that his team can achieve it provided they keep doing what they have done in the first seven matches of the season. "The league is very competitive. Every team wants to prove a point. I expect even the smaller teams to do everything possible to win but we will make sure that we can only concentrate on ourselves."The most important thing is always to win the next match. I’m confident that if the players maintain their form and approach in every match positively, then we have a good chance (to win the league),” added the former Amavubi defender. After the seventh match day, SC Kiyovu lead the table with 18 points, five ahead of AS Kigali. APR, Musanze and Police are all tied on 12 points but the military side has a game in hand against Rayon Sport.
