Team Rwanda looks to deal with continent

THE national cycling team is undergoing intensive preparations in Musanze ahead of this year’s African continental cycling championship slated for November 6-11 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.The Rwanda cycling federation’s permanent secretary Emmanuel Murenzi told Times Sport yesterday that the national team is in readiness to launch its assault for the continental showpiece.The team is led by Tour of Kigali reigning champion, Adrien Niyonshuti who rides for South Africa’s MTN-Qhubeka, Abraham Ruhumuriza and Janvier Hadi.Others are Joseph Biziyaremye and Valens Ndayisenga who will compete in the junior category."The team has been holding intensive preparations in Musanze in bid to stage a successful performance in Africa championship,”"They have been in camp and everything is going on smoothly,” added Murenzi.Team Rwanda is expected to head to Burkina Faso on November 4, two days before the championship gets underway.Last year, Team Rwanda finished 6th overall in the Africa cycling Championships held in Asmara, Eritrea. Rwanda was represented by Adrien Niyonshuti, Gasore Hategeka, Nicodem Habiyambere, Nathan Byukusenge and Joseph Bizimuremyi.
