Madison set to join Qatari club

FORMER U-20 volleyball national team captain Placide ‘Madison’ Sibomana is set to join a yet-to-be identified Qatari first division club next month.Sibomana, who features for Nyanza Volleyball Club, could join fellow Rwandan internationals Christophe Mukunzi and Vincent Dusabimana Gasongo.Gasongo signed for An-Aghallfa Sports Club, while Mukunzi signed for Al-Arabi Sports Club both in the Qatari first division.Both have been plying their trade in the Algerian first division league over the last two seasons.  Former Rwanda National University star Gasongo has been playing for Etoile Sportive de Setif, while former Kigali Volleyball player Mukunzi was based in USM Alger.Reports reaching Times Sport indicate that both clubs are interested in signing Sibomana but the former Groupe Scolaire de Butare player is yet to make up his mind.According to Rwanda Volleyball Federation Executive Secretary, Gertrude Kubwimana, Sibomana will go for trials with both clubs next month."He could join one of the first division clubs in Qatar, but he will first undergo trials, then everything will be decided later,” she stated.Other Rwandan professional players include Lawrence Yakan Guma, who features for Algeria first division Etoile Sportive de Setif, Elie Mutabazi (France second division) and Jean de Dieu Uwimana based in Belgium. Pierre Kwizera Marshal and Flavien Ndamukunda are waiting to return to their Algeria club El Malhia.
