Rwanda Volleyball Federation vice chairman Philbert Mutwarasibo will be the acting chairman until new elections are held in February 2013. He will replace long-serving Charles Uyisenga, who stepped down after becoming a senate House last week.According to the federation Secretary General Gertrude Kubwaimana, Mutwarasibo assumed leadership albeit in an acting role with immediate effect. She said, "Mutwarasibo will take over as acting chairman until the next elections. He has held this role before and we believe he will continue to do his job regardless of his position, it was an easy decision by the executive committee to make.” After taking oath in the Senate, former chairman Uyisenga promised to continue supporting the sport. "I will never sideline volleyball, it is a sport I played and love with passion so I will continue to offer my support whenever I am needed. I have been a member of the volleyball family for a long time and I am not about to leave,” the new Senator told Times Sport last week. The 61-year old led the Volleyball Federation between 1988 and 1993; he was also once the vice chairman of Rwanda Olympic committee (CNOSR).
