BURUNDIAN international Laudit Mavugo is set to complete his move to AS Kigali, a day after Police failed to agree with rivals Rayon Sport on a swap deal, Police chairman Alphonse Katarebe confirmed the development yesterday. He said, "Everything has been sorted out with Mavugo. He is in negotiations with AS Kigali,”AS Kigali head coach Andrew Gasambugo also said that they have agreed with both the club and the player and a few minor issues needed to be sorted out before the player completes his move.Gasambugo said, "Our negotiations to sign Mavugo have reached 80 per cent but there are some minor issues we are sorting out before we can call it a done deal.”"Mavugo is a good striker and I believe he will make an impact on our campaign to stage a successful season,” added Gasambugo.Rayon Sport and Police FC failed to agree a player swap involving top strikers Jerome Sina and Laudit Mavugo before the season started. The Blues were interested in taking the Burundian forward from Police while the latter wanted to sign Rwandan international Sina in a direct swap, something that Rayon later found unfeasible.SC Kiyovu and Mukura Victory Sport were the other clubs which expressed interest in Mavugo.
