PRIMUS National Football League rivals Rayon Sport and Police FC failed to agree a player swap involving top strikers Jerome Sina and Laudit Mavugo, Times Sport has learnt. The Blues were interested in taking Burundian forward Mavugo from Police while the latter wanted to sign Rwandan international Sina in a direct swap, something that the former found unfeasible. According to Rayon Sport Secretary General Olivier Gakwaya, Mavugo, who is still contracted with Police, had already agreed personal terms but the law and orders enforcers’ club refused to release him."We agreed everything with the player but his team won’t release him, so we can’t do anything about it other than move on to other targets,” Gakwaya told Times Sport. The official noted, "He is a good player, who would help us this season but Police do not want him to leave, and they will not use him the coming championship, so we do not know why they refused to let him go.”But in a separate interview, Police FC Chairman Alphonse Katarebe insisted that his team wanted to do business with their rivals but only in swap arrangement with Mavugo and Sina heading in opposite directions. He said, "We had agreed with Rayon to make a direct swap for the two players, Sina coming to us and Muvugo going but they (Rayon) pulled out at the last minute after everything appeared to have been agreed.” "Rayon Sport want to sign Mavugo without giving us Sina as we had agreed but it’s not going to work. One thing for certain is that by tomorrow (today) we will know where the player will play next,” Katarebe explained.Katerebe refused to reveal Mavugo’s possible next destination, only saying that the player will remain in the Primus National Football League.Teams including SC Kiyovu, Mukura Victory Sport and AS Kigali are being touted as his next stop.
