RWAMAGANA — An eighteen year old man allegedly raped and murdered an eight-year old primary one school girl.

The incident happened last week in Nyarugarama, village, Karitutu Cell Muhazi sector, in Rwamagana district.

Pascal Ndagijimana raped and murdered Yvette Uyisabye after removing her eye a crime he apparently admitted in a police statement at Rwamagana Police Station. The deceased has been in primary one at Nyarusange Primary School.

"We raped her and killed her. I was with Claude Sindikubwabo," Ndagijimana told The New Times. The two have been working as casual laborers at a home of Nyarugarama village leader called Mugabo.

"It was at around 9: 30 in the morning when Claude signaled me after seeing this girl who was gathering firewood. We got her, we raped her and killed her because we expected she would reveal it to her parents," Ndagijimana said, adding that after killing her they dumped her body in a nearby elephant grass.

Asked about whether he would appreciate the punishment that will accompany his act, Ndagijimana said, "I ask for forgiveness because it is Satan who tempted me into killing a person."

Two other people were arrested in connection with the murder. They were identified as Claude Sindikubwabo and Donath Nsegiyaremye. However, in an interview with our reporter, Sindikubwabo, denied any role in the death of the young girl.

"I was cultivating. I left the field at 11 am and went home. I left Ndagijimana grazing cows in the same place, Sindikubwabo said.

Nsegiyaremye is the one who revealed the whereabouts of the corpse but is also helping the police in further investigation.

Meanwhile, Perusi Mukamusoni, the mother of the deceased has appealed to government to take appropriate measures against the culprits involved in the killing of her daughter.

"I appeal to government to parade such criminals before the public but more so to take strong punitive measures against them."

Area residents who spoke to The New Times revealed that there are wrong elements who come under the pretext of looking for employment and end up inflicting harm on residents. They appealed to police to mount an operation to nub and re-locate them to their areas of origin.
