Police hold on to Mavugo

AFTER releasing foreign players, Police FC have confirmed they won’t let go of influential Burundian born striker Laudit Mavugo, who is wanted by rivals Rayon Sport.

AFTER releasing foreign players, Police FC have confirmed they won’t let go of influential Burundian born striker Laudit Mavugo, who is wanted by rivals Rayon Sport.Rayon Sport expressed their desire to sign the striker who has one year remaining on his contract with Police.But Police FC chairman Alphonse Katarebe, who last week noted that they will not employ any foreign player in the upcoming season, are stuck to their guns. They want Mavugo to stay and guide them in their quest to stage a good CAF Orange Confederation Cup campaign next year.Mavugo, fresh from pursuing trials with Algeria’s JS Kabylie, scored eight goals to help Police finish second in last season’s football league.Meanwhile, Police are expected to sign Mukura’s defender Gabriel Mugabo with talks set to wind up before the end of the week. The team is also in talks with Amani Uwiringiyimana who has been plying his trade in Bangladesh, Arnwal Kibaya of AS Kigali and striker Christian Uwumukiza of Amagaju.The club has signed Andrew Mazimpaka from La Jeunesse, Corneille from Mukura VC, Yusuf Ndayishimiye Kabishi from SC Kiyovu, Yahaya Ngirumuremyi and Innocent Habyarimana from AS Kigali.Police open up their quest for 2012/13 league title against La Jeunesse at Kicukiro turf on September 22.
