Only the girls’ basketball title went to Burundi’s Lycee SOS.Ten Rwandan teams qualified for semi-finals but four reached finals. Solidarity Academy lost 4-3 on penalties to Uganda’s kawembe Muslim following a 1-all draw in the girls’ football final.In boys’ volleyball final, Rwanda’s GSO Butare was beaten 3-0 by Cheptil from Kenya, while Eseki Ruhango and Apapegi Cyuru lost the boys’ and girls’ handball finals to Rubiri SS teams (Uga) 27-24 and 24-23 respectively.In play-offs matches, APE Rugunga beat 5-4 Kenya’s St Anthony on penalties following a 1-all draw in boys’ football, while Indangaburezi College and APACE finished third and fourth in girls’ volleyball respectively.Overall, Uganda finished top after winning five titles in football (boys and girls), handball (boys and girls) and netball, Kenya was second with four titles in volleyball (boys and girls), basketball (basketball) and rugby, while Burundi comes third with a single title, which came in girls’ basketball.Rwandan delegation led by the director of sports in the Ministry of Education, Paterne Rwigema returns home this afternoon.
