The 2012 edition starts today and runs until September 2.Tour of Rio de Janeiro is one of the recognised international cycling tours. This is the second time Team Rwanda participates in the tour, which has attracted some famous cycling teams such as Team Type 1 from United States, KTM – Murcia from Spain.The Rwandan delegation which is led by team coach Jonathan Boyer, landed in Rio on Sunday.The team is made of six elite riders including; team captain Nathan Byukusenge, Abraham Ruhumuriza, Nicodem Habiyambere, Emmanuel Rudahunga, Hadi Janvier and Joseph Biziyaremye.After the Tour of Rio, Team Rwanda will turn focus to the Tour de Faso and African Continental championship slated to take place in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in November before returning for the Tour of Rwanda slated for November 18-25.Nine teams from abroad and 10 from Brazil will play a part in Tour do Rio 2012 where they will run km 806 in five stages.
