Paying taxes in time saves time and money

Dear editor, Last week, your paper reported about thousands of tax payers rushing to clear their VAT and Pay As Your Earn (PAYE). According to RRA rates, small tax payers are charged Frw100, 000, medium ones pay Frw300, 000 while large payers folk out Frw500, 000 when they fail to clear on time.

Dear editor,

Last week, your paper reported about thousands of tax payers rushing to clear their VAT and Pay As Your Earn (PAYE). According to RRA rates, small tax payers are charged Frw100, 000, medium ones pay Frw300, 000 while large payers folk out Frw500, 000 when they fail to clear on time.

However the habit of waiting to clear taxes on the last day is causing incontinence to both Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) and the consumers.

RRA staff complains that some times their computers break down, partly because they are overwhelmed by the numbers handled. They also have to work for extra hours to serve you. But what annoys most, is that businesses close. With this type of attitude, most of you will fall out of business. Remember, with the East African Community, bigger and tested traders willing to pay taxes on time and ready to work 24/7 hours are coming to Kigali. They will attract several customers because of the good services.

Therefore if you are to compete and grow, never take anything for granted. Do everything in time. Be courteous and learn that the customer is king.
