Defending champions and Rwanda’s second representative in this year’s Cecafa/Kagame Cup club championship APR Fc has been seeded for the draws set to take place on Friday in the Tanzanian port city of Dar es Salaam.

According to Cecafa spokesman, Finny Keshi APR and Simba Fc of Tanzania will the seeded teams in the draws.

"Simba and APR clubs will be seeded in pool A&B. The second club from the hosting country Yanga is set to be in the same pool with the defending champions APR," Keshi said.

Keshi further added that the remaining clubs will be pooled among the two groups according to the draws.

The draws for this year’s Cecafa/Kagame club championship set for July 12-26 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania have been scheduled for this Friday, regional body secretariat has confirmed.

The Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye told Times Sport on Monday that the draws have been set for this Friday despite the event being postponed on three occasions.

"Meetings by the hosting country Tanzania have on several occasions forced the regional body to postpone the event," "But we hope nothing disrupts the event this Friday," Musonye said.

Meanwhile, thirteen clubs have already confirmed their participation in this year’s Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa)/Kagame Club Championship.

Among the confirmed clubs, defending champions APR and Rayon Sport will hoist the Rwandan flag in Tanzania.

Other clubs confirmed for this year’s event are last year’s losing finalists, Uganda Revenue Authority, Vital’O of Burundi, Al Hilal of Sudan, Miembeni FC of Zanzibar, Ten-Ten FC from Eritrea, Awassa City of Ethiopia, Banaadir Telecom of Somalia and AS Compagnie of Djibouti.

Kenya’s Tusker FC, which was barred from this year’s continental championships due to a debt the Kenya Football Federation (KFF), owed the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and now has a chance to showcase their supremacy in the regional competition.

As a host nation, Tanzania will enjoy an advantage of fielding two teams and will be represented by Yanga and Simba football clubs.

Dar es Salaam’s main stadium, currently under construction, is the most likely venue for the two-week long championship.

Construction work at the stadium is almost complete as the stadium will host the 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifiers.

President Paul Kagame has been the sole sponsor of the Cecafa/Kagame club championship to a tune worth $ 60000 since 2002.
