Solidarity aim to go one better

RWANDA’s representatives and last year’s beaten semifinalists at Feassa regional girls’ schools football competition, Solidarity Academy, have their sights on the title.At the tournament that kicks off on Sunday in Bujumbura, Burundi, Rwanda will be represented by Solidarity Academy and Remera Rukoma. Speaking to Times Sport, Solidarity coach, Grace Nyinawumuntu, said she is confident of winning the title.The team boasts several players from four-time national women champions, AS Kigali, who will be making their second appearance in the tournament.The school’s headmaster Alex Mulindwa said, "Last year we finished third but this time we have set our target on winning the title,”"The school’s administration has done everything for the team in order to perform well. The team gained experience after last year’s edition and we have gained confidence and we hope we will win the women competition title,” Coach Nyinawumuntu said that she is confident on winning the title. "90% of players in my team are the usual players I manage at AS Kigali, so I don’t expect any challenge in assembling a team,”"The battle for glory won’t be as hard as last year. Most of my players have been together throughout the season in AS Kigali’s campaign of winning their four women league title, so am expecting nice collective performances in Bujumbura,” said Nyinawumuntu who is focused on fighting for the nation’s pride.Solidarity Academy open their campaign against Burundi’s Lycee de Makamba on Sunday in a Group B fixture. Other teams drawn in Group B include St. Johns of Kenya, Highway Progressive Sironko and Kawempe Muslim School both from Uganda.
