School teams departs for Bujumbura on Thursday

RWANDA’s delegation to the East African post-primary games which start this weekend in Bujumbura, Burundi will leave on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Education.

RWANDA’s delegation to the East African post-primary games which start this weekend in Bujumbura, Burundi will leave on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Education.The travel schedule was confirmed by the official in charge of sports in Rwanda’s Ministry of Education Paterne Rwigema, who will head the Rwandan delegation to Bujumbura.He said, "We started our preparations early enough and I hope it will help our schools do well in Bujumbura.”"Last year, the whole delegation gathered at Lycée de Kigali for a short briefing before leaving for Mbarara, Uganda; this time we shall depart from Group Scolaire Officiel de Butare (GSOB) before the journey starts on Thursday,” added Rwigema. The schools that will represent the country in the games have been training since August 6.Rwanda will be represented by G.S Remera-Rukoma, Solidarity Academy (girls’ football), APE Rugunga and ESEG Gisenyi (boys’ football), G.S Indangaburezi (volleyball girls), G.S.O.B and Lycée de Nyanza (volleyball boys), St. Joseph Kabgayi (basketball girls), ETENI Gisenyi and Lycée de Kigali (basketball boys).Others are; APAPEGI Gicumbi (handball girls), E.S Kigoma and College de Gisenyi (handball boys), G.S Gahini (handball), two selected teams (girls and boys) in athletics while ISETAR Kamonyi will compete in the boys’ rugby fray.
