Kaze (Bur) 6-1 6-3TOP seed Ernest Habiyambere is on the way to claim his third ITF/CAT 14 and Under African junior circuit title after easing into the quarter finals of the regional tournament yesterday at Cercle Sportif in Rugunga, Kigali City.Habiyambere had an easy contest snatching a 6-0 6-1 victory in straight sets against Tanzania’s Emmanuel Sulle.If Habiyambere goes on to win the Kigali ITF/CAT 14 and Under African junior circuit, he will move five places on the African rankings, to fourth position. He is currently ranked ninth on the African continent.Elsewhere, Jules Ndibwami joined Habiyambere in the quarter final stage after overpowering Jonathan Girumugisha of Burundi to attain a 6-1, 6-1 victory.However, Niyigena Etienne lost to Sada Nkurunziza – 2-6, 4-6.In the girls’ category, Olive Tuyisenge and Chantal Uwimbabazi could not emulate their male counterparts. Tuyisenge lost to Sada Nahimana 4-6, 3-6 while Uwimbabazi conceded 1-6, 3-6 to Aissa Niyonkuru.In the U-12 fray, Bryana Ndahiro saw off Emmanuel Temba following a 6-4, 6-3 victory while Fabrice Tuyishime defeated Jonathan Kaze 6-1, 6-3 in straight sets.Over 32 players from Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe and are taking part in the five-day tournament which comes to a climax on Wednesday.
