32 players for ITF Junior tennis circuit

The third leg of the ITF tennis junior circuit kicks off this morning at Cercle Sportif in Kigali with 32 players from Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Rwanda in action.

The third leg of the ITF tennis junior circuit kicks off this morning at Cercle Sportif in Kigali with 32 players from Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Rwanda in action.Rwanda’s Ernest Habiyambere was the star performer in the U-14 category after winning both the first and second legs played in Bujumbubura. The lanky youngster is convinced that he will recapitulate the same performance in the third leg at home soil.In the Under-12 category, Bryan Ndahiro failed to emulate his elder compatriot’s prowess when he lost to Burundian Shakour Kabura in straight sets 6-1, 7-6.However Rwandans Ndahiro and Fabrice Tuyishime won the U-12 doubles’ category 2-6 7-6 and 10-8.Rwanda Tennis Federation chairman Theoneste Karenzi says they are putting more emphasis on developing youth talent in order to have a continuous pool of tennis players that can win continental tournaments in the near future.
