The national University of Rwanda, UNR will host this year’s edition of the higher institutions of learning in Butare today.

The Rwanda University Sports Federation (RUSF) president, Albert Kayiranga told Times Sport recently that this year’s edition will attract different universities and higher learning institutions from the country.

"We have invited ten higher learning institutions to take part in this year’s Inter-University edition scheduled to be held at UNR over the weekend,” Kayiranga said.

These universities will take part in four different sports disciplines to be hosted from September 7-9 in Butare. They include: football, basketball, handball and karate.

According to RUSF, each university is requested to pay annual contribution and participation fees worthy Frw. 0.35 million.

The annual contribution fee is meant to cater for the management of the federation while the participation fees will cater for winners’ awards and referees’ management to mention but a few.

Each university is also entitled to cater for its students’ accommodation and meals.

The national University Sports Federation is affiliated to the National Olympic Committee, East African University Sports Federation, African University Sports Federation and the International University Sports Federation.

The overall champion of this year’s edition will represent the country on the regional level due to be held in Nairobi, Kenya in late November.
