Rwanda’s Belgium based professional player Henri Munyaneza is demanding for $3000 (about Frw1.6 millions) for his every appearance for the Amavubi Stars in the forthcoming 2010 World Cup/Africa Nations Cup qualifiers.

Munyaneza, who features for Belgium premier club, F. C. Verbroedering Dender demanded for the package after being approached by the local footballers’ body, Ferwafa to beef up team ahead of the qualifying campaign, which gets underway with a home tie against Mauritania on May 30.

Without sensing the danger such unrealistic demands would cause to his international career, the striker, who last played for Amavubi two years ago, was immediately dropped from the list of professionals that had been drafted.

However, there was no problem when it came to four of his teammates Olivier Karekezi who plies his trade with Norway’s premier league club Hamarkameratene (Norway), Fritz Emeran Nkusi (Levadiakos, Greece), Said Abedi Makasi (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel) and Bobo Bola who plays for Swedish second division side, Laundskbois.

Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer, Jules Kalisa told Times Sport yesterday that the quartet has already confirmed their presence for the Mauritius tie. But there was not place for Jimmy Mulisa, who features for Belgium’s second division club, FC Hamme. The former APR midfielder has been ruled out of action for his club for up to five weeks with a groin injury.

Rwanda’s other professional players who have been overlooked include; Hamad Katauti. Ndikumana (Anorthosis, Cyprus), Ramadhan Nkuzingoma (TP Mazembe, DRC), Ishimwe Ndagano (Pirnemonp, Belgium) and Uganda-based defender Omar Hitimana, who plays for Express Fc.

Meanwhile, Amavubi Stars have started their residential training, which is expected to last two weeks ahead of the Mauritania game.
