Pheelz, Bruce Melodie excite at BAL 2023 finals

It was rapturous inside BK Arena, in Kigali, when Nigerian singer and songwriter Pheelz performed during the halftime show of the 2023 Basketball Africa League (BAL) championship game, on Saturday, May 27.

Egyptian champions AL Ahly eventually bagged the trophy after beating Senegal’s AS Douanes 80-65.

But watching the electrifying performances of both teams was not the only highlight of the match. The Nigerian megastar and Rwanda’s Afrobeat sensation Bruce Melodie also shared the spotlight as they thrilled fans at the game.

Dressed in black and Blue, Bruce Melodie opened the game with a thrilling performance dominated by his latest smash hits including, ‘Fou De Toi’.

Pheelz, real name Phillip Kayode Moses, was the second international artiste that appeared on the line-up of entertainers for BAL halftime shows, after Omy Dimpoz of Tanzania. He lifted the mood up in and outside the arena with his hit songs including ‘Fineese’ which became a global hit after its dance challenge went viral on Tik Tok.

The 2023 BAL playoffs were headlined by different local and international artists such as Kivumbi King, Kenny Sol, Juno Kizigenza and DJ Fully Focus.

The championship game attracted big celebrities from around the world such as American film star Forest Steven Whitaker, 13-year NBA veteran Joakim Noah, American sports and business executive Mark A Tatum, Ugandan rapper Daniel Lubwama Kigozi, or Navio, and many others.
