The AU has a very big task to control conflict and violence in its member states.

There are so many wars and conflicts going on in Africa that the AU is silent about or shying away. Look at the recent Khartoum issue and the post elections bizarre in Zimbabwe. AU has little to say about it and you cannot wholesomely blame the newly formed body.

Should it mobilize a force to go and install a peoples’ government? The answer is no. Should the AU go to Zimbabwe and tell Mugabe to tell it a quit? The answer is no. In such scenarios the AU cannot be blamed and it is only the so called member states to blame.

Why do Africans still think about the unnecessary and the impossible? If you put a constitution in place, be ready to respect it and if you don’t then, know that somewhere you endangering your state and people.

Otherwise, expecting the AU to intervene in all matters is like calling a neighbor to come and settle the differences between you and your partner. Certain issues are too domestic to attract an international body, and even if it came in, only cosmetic changes would come out.
