APR Football club’s head coach Ernest Brandts yesterday started talks with his employers for a new contract with the league and Peace cup winners.The 56-year old met with the club hierarchy but it is not clear what transpired in their meeting. The Dutchman’s two-year deal ran out on July 31 and is keen to extend his stay with the military club."I am meeting (club) management today (yesterday) to discuss my contract issue, which I’m happy with, but at the moment I cannot tell you more than that because nothing has been discussed,” Brandts told this paper.In two seasons, the former Dutch international defender has guided the club to two league titles, two MTN Peace cup trophies, a semi-final place in the 2012 CECAFA Kagame club championship and a second round in this year’s Orange Africa Champions League.Meanwhile, seven players including the influential Twite twin brothers Mbuyu and Kabange, Burundian internationals Papy Faty and Seleman Ndikumana, Ugandan midfielder Johnson Bagoole, goalkeeper Ramathan Nkunzingoma and striker Kipson Atuheire are also out of contract.The club has also released four foreign players, namely, Logbo Landry Didier (Ivory Coast), Alex De Avila Peixoto, Oliviero Alves and Douglas Lopes Carneirn (Brazil).The 13-time national league champions recently announced plans to release all foreign players ahead of the next season.
