TodayJ.B Hakizimana (tee off 8:00am)E. Ruterana (tee off time 8:30am) Rwanda’s top professional golfer Jean Baptiste Hakizimana says he has never been more confident for a ‘major’ tournament than he is going into the KCB East Africa Golf Finale. The four-day tournament, the biggest on the regional calendar, gets underway this morning, but Hakizimana will have to match his words with action when he tees off this morning at 8:00am at the Par 71 Nyali golf course in Mombasa, Kenya. The 25-year old former caddie goes into the grueling event with confidence sky high after winning the Bro-group golf tournament last month in Uganda. But with the region’s top golfers like Uganda’s Deo Akope and Kenya’s Dismas Ndiza among the opposition, Hakiziaman and his compatriot Emmanuel Ruterana will need to be at their best to be in contention against more experienced and possibly better equipped rivals."We had a practice round yesterday but the greens are hard because it is very sunny here,” Hakizimana said after Tuesday morning training session.Over 100 professional golfers from Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and the hosts Kenya will take part in the four-day competition that has prize money of Rwf30m.
