It was a celebratory moment when Kivumbi King become the first Rwandan rapper to headline half time shows of the BAL playoffs taking place in Kigali.

The game one of semi finals which took place on June 24, at the BK Arena, was designed to see Angola’s Petro De Luanda compete with Senegal’s AS Douanes to secure a place for the final game.

Watching the electrifying performances of both teams was not the only highlight of the match. Rwandan hip hop artiste Kivumbi King also shared the spotlight as he thrilled fans at the half time show of the game.

Dressed in black and red, and rocking ‘Amasunzu’ hairstyle, the young rapper stepped on the stage at around 18:00 am and opened the performance with ‘Nana’, one of his most hit tracks of 2022.

He closed his performance with ‘Yalampaye’, a steadily banger that features Burundi’s upcoming star, Kirikou Akiri, which is making rounds on local airwaves and televisions.

Performing next was Omy Dimpoz, the only international artiste that appeared on this years line-up of entertainers of the BAL half time shows.

He thrilled spectators of the second game of BAL semi finals between Al Ahly and stade Malien with his global smash record ‘Me and You’ which featured Vanessa Mdee among others.

The championship game slated for May 27, will be headlined by Rwanda’s Afrobeat sensation Bruce Melodie and DJ Neptune from Nigeria.

Up to 240 TV channels, including Rwanda public broadcaster RBA and KC2, broadcast the tournament.
