The remains of 402 victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi were on Sunday accorded a decent burial at a memorial site in Musanze District.Top government officials and local leaders joined a mammoth crowd of mourners who turned up in large numbers to offer the last funeral rites to the victims whose remains were discovered following various testimonies and information obtained over the past year.During the funeral service, Janvier Forongo, the Executive Secretary of the umbrella organisation of Genocide survivors associations,’ Ibuka, called on the population to willingly provide more information on the whereabouts those who perished."Paying respects to those who perished is very important especially in the lives of the survivors,” He said, noting that paying of last respects to the victims provides those survived with some relief.Senator Narcisse Musabyeyezu advocated for a culture of friendship and reconciliation among all Rwandans to enable survivors lead a brighter future.Provincial Governor Aime Bosenibamwe called on the public to join hands in the fight against genocide ideology and in promoting unity and reconciliation.He pledged that preparations are at an advanced stage to start repair works on the district memorial site that is currently in a bad state.
