THE Ministry of Education is set to inject over Rwf70 m to cover for participation and preparation costs of Rwanda’s delegation to this year’s East African post-primary games due in Burundi from August 26 to September 02.Rwanda’s delegation to this year’s edition of regional post-primary games will be composed of 19 teams to compete in six sports categories namely; football, basketball, volleyball, netball, handball, athletics and rugby respectively.A Ministry of Education official in charge of sports, Paterne Rwigema, told Times Sport yesterday that they expect to spend more in terms of funding following a growth of representatives."We hope to spend between Rwf. 70 - 75 millions to cater for the team’s preparations and participation costs. The budget increases each year as number of participating teams increase too,”"In 2011, we had a budget of 16m but it has so far grown to over Rwf. 70 million with teams representing Rwanda increasing from 15 in 2010 to 19 in 2012,” added Rwigema.Rwanda will be represented by G.S Remera-Rukoma and Solidarity Academy (girls’ football), APE Rugunga and ESEG Gisenyi (boys’ football), G.S Indangaburezi (volleyball girls), G.S.O.B and Lycée de Nyanza (volleyball boys), St. Joseph Kabgayi (basketball girls), ETENI Gisenyi and Lycée de Kigali (basketball boys).Others are; APAPEGI Gicumbi (handball girls), E.S Kigoma and College de Gisenyi (handball boys), G.S Gahini (handball), while ISETAR Kamonyi will compete in the boys’ rugby fray.
