Kagame visits Gashora Girls school President Paul Kagame visited Gashora Girls school calling on female students to focus on their education if they are to succeed and contribute towards the country`s development. The school that focuses on education for girls specifically in science and technology is located in Bugesera district. He reminded students to utilize the chance of education even when there are disruptions. He encouraged them to hold on what they believe is important until they achieve their aims. The President urged students to be confident saying this will direct them but also get inspiration from people they admire in society. He told students that they have the ability to become just like those people they admire. The First Lady, Jeanette Kagame, and Minister James Musoni of Local Government accompanied the president. Land registration completeRwanda Natural Resources Authority (RNRA) said that demarcation and adjudication of land is complete all over the country. The Deputy Director General for Land and Mapping Eng. Didier Sagashya said the exercise went on as planned. He said that 10.3 million land parcels were registered and that next will be issuing land titles. This exercise follows government’s enacting of the organic law that provides land ownership and land tenure. For sometime, there was no proper land policy. In 2008, the land registration started after putting in place a ministerial decree that defined and determined how the exercise must be carried out. King Faisal Hospital staff told to re-apply for jobs The Ministry of Health gave King Faisal Hospital employees a one month notice to re-apply for their jobs.Dr. Agnes Binagwaho, the Minister of Health Minister said that the decision follows the hospital’s loss of autonomy to Rwanda Bio-medical Centre (RBC). According to the Minister, the employees are no longer RBC employees, reason they must re-apply, urging that this is the right procedures to seek for employment. If any employee fails to re-apply, he or she stands to loose their job. RBC has been running the hospital for a year now which has been termed as a grace period. Operating under the Ministry of Health, RBC is charged with the responsibility of enabling the population to access cheap and sustainable health services. Bagosora, three others to serve sentences in Mali Théoneste Bagosora, who is considered as the planner of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi was sent to serve his sentence in Mali. He was also transferred with other genocide convicts including Yusuf Munyakazi and Tharcise Renzaho. Bagosora, is a former director of Cabinet in the Ministry of Defence. He had been sentenced to life imprisonment by the ICTR lower chamber, but he appealed something that saw him given a 35 years sentence. The life sentence had been handed to him in 2008 on charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes. Bagosora was the de facto army chief as the Genocide unfolded. Rwanda had requested to host the convicts, but the final decision was made by the Tribunal`s president.Local leaders on the spot over traffic offences Police in Eastern Province warned sector Executive Secretaries against driving without permits.This follows government decision to give vehicles to the 416 sectors country wide on a loan scheme.Police says that upon receiving the vehicles, they immediately started driving with out undergoing driving training. The Eastern Region Police Commander (RPC) Chief Superintendant Alexander Muhirwa, these sector leaders risk facing the law. He advised them to hire drivers, as they prepare for driving tests so as to get the driving licence. Muhirwa added that in respect to road safety, there will be no short cut. He urged the leaders to take his advise or else they land in trouble. WDA opens hospitality school Workforce Development Authority (WDA) opened a school for hospitality and tourism in Remera, Gasabo District.The Director General of WDA, Jerome Gasana, said the school will offer courses like catering, front office operations, housekeeping, customer care, cookery, food and beverages and travel and tour. He said that the school was opened to promote the hospitality and tourism sector through skills development. The first intake will target 100 students especially those already employed in the industry. Trainers from hospitality and tourism schools will also benefit from the school with the aim of building their capacity to effectively pass on the skills to their trainees. WDA will run the school in collaboration with a renowned Swiss hospitality and tourism school, Les Roches International School of Hotel Management.INES graduates 600 The Institute of Higher Education (INES) passed out 604 students in its third graduation ceremony.The Musanze based school awarded degrees and diplomas in various disciplines including Languages and Applied Linguistics, Economics, Social Sciences and Management, Applied Fundamental Sciences and Law.This year`s graduation rises the total graduates the school has passed out to 1273 nine years since it opened doors. The Minister of Education and Chancellor, Dr. Vincent Biruta, urged the graduates to uphold professionalism if they are to be good ambassadors of their institution and higher education.
