Kagame, UK envoy discuss trade and investment

President Paul Kagame on Saturday, May 13, hosted Lord Popat, the United Kingdom trade envoy to Rwanda for discussions centered around trade and investment opportunities between both countries.

Lord Popat who is in Rwanda for an official visit also met Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Vincent Biruta, for a bilateral meeting during which they discussed enhancing cooperation in trade and investment between the two countries.

While in Rwanda, Lord Popat toured several activities including Bella Flowers. Established as a strategic investment to boost the floriculture industry, Bella flowers, a 65-hectare farm in Gishali, Rwamagana district, Eastern Province, aims to grow into a pioneer of excellence in the production of high quality roses for export to international markets.

"The visit was aimed at strengthening Trade and Investment relations between the UK and Rwanda," Bella flowers management said on Twitter.

Trade between Rwanda and the United Kingdom improved significantly seeing the trade volume grow by 6 percent to reach more than Rwf41 billion in 2021.
