Over 5,000 houses were swept away by the recent climate disasters in Rwanda's western, northern and southern provinces. At least 9,000 people were rendered homeless. Olivier Mugwiza

Rwanda faces a long road to recovery after climate disasters – landslides and floods – left 131 dead and over 5,000 houses destroyed on May 2-3. At least 9,231 people were rendered homeless.

In this week’s episode of The Long Form podcast, our host discusses the disasters and why climate justice is long overdue for countries like Rwanda who are vulnerable to the effects of climate change yet contribute nearly nothing to the crisis.

We also look at some other major events that dominated the headlines on the continent; from the gunning down of a minister in Uganda to the raging conflict sparked by two powerful generals in Sudan.
