KICUKIRO - The Rwandese Labour Party (PSR) has called for proper treatment of employees and hard work. Addressing the press on the eve of the World Labour Day at Hotel Alpha Palace in Kigali, party officials said it was imperative that people dedicate themselves to work since that is the only viable way for uplifting the standards of Rwandans and the national economy.

PSR president MP Jean-Baptiste Rucibigango praised the Government efforts in improving the welfare of civil servants but condemned what he called appalling working conditions facing casual labourers.

The party asked the Government to review upwards the 1974 Labour Law which sets the minimum wage for causal labourers at Frw100, saying such a provision was no longer relevant to the realities on the ground.
