Tell us about yourself and how your career started

My name is Didier Mugisha. I was born on January 26, 2001. I started my football career at a very young age. I first played for Vision FC before Bugesera saw me and signed me. I joined Police FC in 2022.

Was football your dream career?

I love football, my dream has always been to become a professional footballer since childhood. I am glad that I have achieved my aim.

What was your childhood like?

It was pretty cool. I had the needed support from my family as they helped me in relation to my football career.

How can you describe your football journey?

Just like any African player, there are obstacles but I always try to excel. Football, particularly in Africa, is a tough sport and you have to psyche yourself well. The pitches we play on itself are sometimes even challenging.

What has your season been like?

I can say this is my best season as a professional footballer. I am scoring many goals and I play with so much confidence. I know I can keep up the form and do even more.

How was it when you earned your first Amavubi call up?

It was one of my greatest moments as a footballer. The dream of every footballer is to represent his country and that is my dream as well. Getting the call up was a morale booster as it showed that my efforts are being noticed.

Which player inspires you most?

I used to watch Lionel Messi when I was much younger. I liked his dribbles, and his knack for scoring goals. Currently, I also fancy Kylian Mbappe because he is an all-round attacker.

What are your football aspirations?

I want to make my national team debut and also play in Europe, feature in the UEFA Champions League and other world class football competitions.

What should fans expect from you in the coming years?

They should expect big things. I will continue to give my best for my club as well as the country anytime I get the chance.
