President Paul Kagame and his Malawian counterpart Bingu wa Mutarika yesterday officially inaugurated Paul Kagame Road in the Capital Lilongwe.

Kagame is on a three-day state visit to the Southern Africa nation.The road is the first modern dual carriageway in Malawi.

Following the unveiling of the roadside commemorative plaque, the Heads of State proceeded along the new 3.3kmroad in an open jeep accompanied by jubilant crowds waving Rwandan and Malawian flags.

On his arrival at Kamuzu International Airport on Monday, Kagame was accorded a 21-gun salute.

Kagame on Monday congratulated wa Mutharika on the transformation of Lilongwe into a veritable seat of government during his administration.

President Kagame had last visited Malawi during the inauguration of President wa Mutharika in May 2004. Ends
