Bigirimana keen on playing for Amavubi

Gael Bigirimana, an attacking midfielder, who plays for England’s Championship club Coventry City has reiterated his desire to play for Amavubi.In an interview with local media last week, Bigirimana, born in Burundi in 1993 to a Rwandan father and Burundian mother, moved to United Kingdom as a refugee in 2004.He spent some time in Uganda before moving to the UK, but now he says he has snubbed calls from Burundi as he waits for the opportunity to play for Rwanda."Although I have played for England youth teams, I can’t say that would give me the chance to play for the Three Lions. I want to play for Rwanda."Burundi have expressed interest in me but I have turned down their offers. All I want is to play for Rwanda though their officials are yet to contact me,” added Bigirimana.On saturday, Bigirimana played full 90 minutes as Coventry City beat Hull City 2-0 in a championship league match. Coventry City won their first away game of the season at the KC Stadium with Cody McDonald sealing the win following a first half own goal from Liam Cooper.City dominated the game with Bigirimana producing excellent turn of paces to evade his marker and cross for McSheffrey, whose header went narrowly wide in the 48th minute.Bigirimana made his professional debut on August 8, 2011,  in a 1-0 Championship loss to Leicester City playing the full 90 minutes.On March 12, Bigirimana won the Championship’s Apprentice of the Year Award for the 2011/12 season.
