What if Fabrice Muamba was playing in Kigali indeed?

Editor,Sunny Ntayombya’s in yesterday’s The New Times, titled "Imagine Fabrice Muamba’s fate if he was playing in Rwanda”, had a strong message.First aid techniques indeed is definitely such an important issue that the concerned authorities and other stakeholders need to deal with as a matter of urgency. For instance, it is clearly visible that many school children barely look twice before crossing busy streets or think these streets are the perfect place for games on their way to school. That goes for parents who let their children stand inside cars instead of teaching them the importance of seat belts and to use them. Safety lessons are the responsibility of parents and school leaders, and they need to take their job a bit more serious.BeatriceKigali Editor,Allow me to thank Mr. Sunny Ntayombya for such educative article. His is right and I really support his call to the Ministries of Education, Health and Disaster Management to put in place mechanisms that would make Rwanda able to handle such critical situations as the one Fabrice Muamba was in when he collapsed on the pitch a fortnight ago. We really need to be taught how to carry out first aid, otherwise we may lose lives due to lack of simple knowledge.Mcqueen KeilaKigali Editor,Very good advice, Sunny. What happened to Muamba can happen to anyone else here in Rwanda. Let concerned ministries follow your advice. KingKigali Editor, Allow me to comment on the issue of quality education. I have traveled in the region and in Europe. While a lot has been done to improve the quality of education in the region, a lot more needs to be done. All development countries have achieved economic prosperity largely because of their massive investment in quality and relevant education. It is, therefore, important for the East African Community (EAC) member states to heavily invest in education as well as research for the good of the bloc.Agnes BatetaKimironko
