Anita Umuratwa

Anita Kate Umuratwa’s journey from beauty queen to an event planner is a testament to the power of following one’s passion. Through hard work and dedication, she has created a successful business ‘Nita Impressions’ doing something she truly loves.

The former beauty queen has found a new passion in event planning and decoration. After competing in pageants like Miss Rwanda, Miss Supranational and Miss supranational world, Anita realised that her true passion was in creating beautiful events and bringing people together through her impressive talent.

As a university student in her last year, she kept on asking herself what she will do after graduating in Business Administration at the Adventist University of Central Africa. She then decided that she would not have to sit and wait for a job but rather create one that she is passionate about.

Anita’s journey into event planning started when she went to France with her colleagues from Inyamibwa Cultural Troupe and was inspired by how hard working people were. That made her reflect on what she had been brainstorming to do hence venturing into event planning and decoration. Although she had never done anything like this before, she dove right in and began researching and learning everything she could about event planning and decoration.

With her background in beauty pageants and her hard working and multi-purpose spirit, Anita knew a thing or two about presentation, impression and attention to detail. She quickly realised that decoration and event planning was the perfect outlet for her creativity and eye for design hence venturing into the new career in February 2023.

"I not only want my clients but also the attendees of the events to be impressed by how wonderful the decoration is and the event organisation as well. I am now very happy that I took a step towards my dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur and the fact that I have a number of people that I employed is a big deal already.

Being a Miss Supranational helped me a lot in my career, from moving out of my comfort zone, building connections and learning from different people from all around the world that I met. The title makes it easy for people to trust in me and that plays a big part in my career,” said Umuratwa.

Even though the young entrepreneur encounters challenges such as clients who anticipate paying less than the actual value of the service and others who are unfamiliar with decoration and event planning, Miss Anita intends to make a livelihood as an entrepreneur and employ many people through her firm. She hopes to build a large brand for her company and work even outside of the country.
