There are reasons people strive for success in life, and one of the most common aspects that can make this happen is motivation. In fact, it’s believed that in order to focus on a certain goal and achieve it, there should be something that drives you.

Simon Karerangabo, a mentor and motivational speaker for young people in Kigali says that in his line of work, he is bound to meet young people who have lost direction in life.

The first thing he does, he says, is to first help them find happiness in what they are doing, if this doesn’t happen, then he always advises them to switch to something else that will see them happy.

"That is it, it all starts from there, and if you don’t find happiness in anything you are doing or pursuing, then there is no need to frustrate yourself. All these however, come from motivation which helps you to achieve your goals in life,” he says.

For instance, he mentions that in any working environment, if one is happy about what they are doing, it’s hard for them to get exhausted, adding that the case is different if you are in a certain dominion because others are there. This is likely to lead to burnouts and struggle to get along with everything surrounding you.

Karerangabo adds that motivation also boosts one’s energy, which helps them focus more on what they are doing, thus better results.

Philomene Uwase, a young entrepreneur says when you are motivated in life, you are probably going to be happy all the time, which is essential.

She says that if one continues to motivate themselves, it will help you to come up with new goals in all areas, thus making you happy in life.

"My slogan in life is ‘success is the root of motivation and happiness is the underlying desire leading to motivation. For this reason, I believe it’s essential that one ensures that both their happiness and motivational levels are growing by learning to be satisfied with small milestones in life,” she says.

On the other hand, Uwase also notes that finding motivation in a way helps enhance your performance.

She believes that motivation is the most significant predictor of success, and success is achieved through high performance.

"By understanding what motivates you to do better, you will strive at being a better worker and achieve your goals in life.

Viviane Probst, a contemporary and healing dancer with a background in psychology says when it comes to finding motivation, it’s essential that one focuses on rewarding themselves on a regular basis.

This, she believes, will make you stay motivated, and that it doesn’t have to be anything big; it can be something small, like taking a break from work to relax in a quiet and relaxing environment.

Besides, Viviane also notes that when you do this, it will also keep you committed to whatever you are doing as it gives you time to reflect on what you want to achieve.

"When anyone is motivated to do something, they will be more committed to the task and will put all their efforts into it. It is easy when you’re naturally motivated to do a good job, but when you’re feeling demotivated, you need to remind yourself of the importance that commitment can have on your overall success,” she says.
