Many Chelsea fans were shocked by the immediate departure of Andre-Villas Boas after their defeat at West Brom  in an English premier league fixture played last weekend. After a series of poor display by Chelsea, it is rumoured that club owner Roman Abromovic had given AVB an ultimatum prior to the West Brom game.Chelsea who are now  20 points behind league leaders man city, are struggling to even make the top four on the current premier league table ranking. Even the top four finishes seem to be out of reach at the moment unless the blues can win all their remaining premier league games and pray that the top four teams slip up.It should be remembered that Andre-Villas Boas arrived at Chelsea with a handful of success on his back as he led Porto to the Portuguese championship crown without a defeat in the whole season and were crowned last season’s Europa league championsAs a young manager with this kind of achievements on his name, no one could doubt his potential to take up reins at Chelsea.Like his predecessors, AVB was hired to re-instate the blues fighting spirit and perform optimally by competing with the likes of Manchester city, Manchester united, Tottenham hotspur among a host of the top premier league clubs.AVB was already aware of the loaming knife at the bridge as it happened to his predecessors Filipe Scolari a world cup winner with Brazil and Italian Carlo Ancerlotti who had much success with AC Milan. The latter’s failure to win the premier league coupled by lack of champions league success with the blue’s might have inspired his sacking. It is also said that Torres factor masterminded Ancerlotti’s failure at the bridge. The Italian manager worked hard to get the Spanish striker back on form but failed. Chelsea suffered goal drought and eventually lost momentum in the premier league title chase last season.Torres was bought a hefty sum of money as much as 50 million pounds from league rivals Liverpool football club. His goals at 2006 world cup in Germany and European championships in 2008 made him one of the most valuable strikers in the world and this is why Roman Abromovich thought he could be the solution to the blues attack that had relied on the services of  Ivorian hitman  Didier Drogba for a long time.Torres came when he had suffered a performance slump at Liverpool and Chelsea management had hopes that the Spaniard would recover his goal scoring ability.During his first stance in the blues shirt, Torres struggled to even should the ball on goal. He was offered many games by Coach Carlo Ancerlotti so that he can improve his performance but he could not. After a series of poor performance with many draws and lossess from the blue’side, the blues management deemed it necessary to bench him in favour of the Ivorian hitman Didier Drogba. Anelka and Didier Drogba became chelsea’s leaders in attack resolved Chelsea problems upfront though it was not enough to help them win the league. Some sources from the blues corner had hints that Chelsea owner Roman Abromovich had insighted Ancerlotti’s technical team for failure to sharpen Torres. It is also rumoured that AVB had been urged to rectify Torres problem at Chelsea, an attempt that AVB tried during his start as the Chelsea manager but failed. The Portuguese manager was so unlucky that even the rocky Chelsea defence known for conceding fewer goals failed to perform to the expectation. AVB team conceded many goals in this season’s premier league than any other top premier league team and at their home ground. The Portuguese manager struggled to get his back four defenders working as a unit and continued to struggle in attack as well.During the first half of this premier league season, Juan Mata signed from Valencia and Daniel Sturrudge signed from Bolton last season put up a series of good performance that helped the blues escape worries in attack. Though Torres has become a forgotten man at Stamford Bridge, another good young star Lukaku signed from Belgian champions Anderlecht has been frozen out.Lukaku was one of the high prospects before his arrival at the bridge as he had two brilliant seasons with Belgian champions Anderlecht. He was the top scorer a season before being signed by Chelsea. Surprisingly the Chelsea technical team demoted him to the reserve team. At Chelsea Lukaku can no longer even get a dequate playing time in  the carling cup and FA cup, his talent seem to be wasted.
