Indorwa 167 Guards     94Indorwa won by 73runs

Indorwa kept their Sulfo league title hopes alive after Sunday’s 73 run victory over Right Guards at Kicukiro oval.

Sharma Harshad gave Indorwa a perfect start with a superb half century and the side’s captain Romesh Thakkar added 32 runs before being bowled out by Emma Byiringiro, who produced his most convincing display so far at this year’s Sulfo league after picking six wickets to leave his side chasing a target of 167 runs.

However, like in Guards’ previous encounters, batting was their major weakness again.

The top order batsmen were unable to put up stern resistance which saw them collapsing at 94.

Guard’s hopes of cladding onto their first league win were dented before the match had even started, Dennis Mukama, one of the club’s top batsmen was ruled out for personal reasons.

To compound matters, the club was short of two players. After Sunday’s result, Indorwa’s title chances lie in the league’s tie between Challengers and Young tigers.

Indorwa and Challengers are jointly level at the top of the league with 13 points, though Challengers enjoys a game in hand advantage.

Guards are still rooted at the foot of the table while Kigali Cricket Club and Young tigers are jointly tied in third place.
