The youth from different sectors in Gasabo district have been tipped on the importance of forming cooperatives.

"If you think small you will remain small,” Johnson Mwebaze, director of economic development and job promotion in the district said encouraging the youth to form cooperatives.

He said forming cooperatives was the only way to fight poverty among the youth. Through cooperatives, he said many will be employed. He advised them to identify specific projects that can be funded by the district.

Mwebaze was yesterday opening a one-day training of different youth leaders in the district in Remera Sector Gasabo district.

Encouraging the youth to unite, the executive secretary of national youth council in Gasabo district, Pascal Safari said," No man is an Island.”

Meanwhile David Gatete from Kacyiru Sector said his sector has registered twenty cooperatives as base of forming other cooperatives. He also advices youth to take a lead in asking loan as the main tool to help them.
