GHANA midfielder Sulley Muntari has been spared a ban by the Italian football authorities following some unsavoury incidents during the much talked about Milan-Juventus game at the San Siro last Saturday. But his teammate Philippe Mexes has been handed a three-match suspension for punching Juve’s Marco Borriello just as the second half of that game started. Meanwhile Milan’s Andrea Pirlo - together with Sulley Muntari - were not punished. The incidents occurred after the Milanisti accused Juve’s Borriello of elbowing Mark van Bommel twice. Juventus, at the later trial, accused Muntari of making several rough tackles on Stephan Lichsteiner.Mexes’ three match ban rules him out of crucial games against Palermo, Lecce and Parma. The game itself may be pivotal, as the two are hot favorites to annex this season’s Scudetto. It ended 1-1, with Muntari’s goal wrongly disallowed.
