Candidates sitting for National Examinations in the past. The NewTimes File.

Editor,I wish to take this opportunity, through your newspaper, to congratulate all the S.6 candidates, and more specifically, my students at Lycee de Kigali and Riviera High School, whose National Examination results, were released last Friday. As a teacher, I do understand the contentment and bliss students experience when they have passed very well and also share the wretchedness with those students who do not pass as they wished to execute their academic mission. To those who were enthralled with the results, I congratulate you. And those that were saddened, I have a few words for you: The struggle continues; the world has now provided a thousand opportunities to every man, unlike in the old days when there was only one opportunity to a thousand men. Every day, God closes small doors for every man alive and there is always a bigger door that He opens for every man with a positive attitude. Therefore, take courage, stop cursing and crying, and ocus. Many people in such a situation fail to open their eyes to see the bigger door that God opens for them due to what T-Bag Bagwell of Prison Break calls captivity of negativity. We must understand that some of those things come in our lives as trials and temptations. But we all must learn to embrace them with no fear and regret, but with trust, belief and faith in God, as he is the master planner of our lives. To those with no parents and guardians to provide tuition, you should not give up on yourselves, rather think hard and actively find how to get further education through very many national and international means.Only those that embrace such sad moments with no fear, regret and distrust within themselves always find a better way out, they focus and eventually see the light at the end of the tunnel.
