GISAGARA - Residents of Save Sector, Gisagara District, were left in shock after they discovered the body of a dead man floating in Disha dam Wednesday morning.

"I saw the body floating and called residents and soldiers, and together we managed to retrieve the body from the dam. Personally, I do not know what happened to him”, Robert Ntamuturano, an eyewitness narrated.

Residents who spoke to The New Times said the man, only identified as Theophile, recently left his home in Rwanza Cell, Save Sector, without notifying anyone where he was heading to and was found dead a few days later. This raised fears of a possible suicide. The Executive Secretary of the sector, Jean Claude Kabalisa, confirmed the incident.

"We do not know what pushed him to commit suicide. We are still investigating the case,” he disclosed.

The body was taken to hospital for post mortem.

Reports indicate that it is not the first time that someone has been found dead in the dam with cases of suicide in the area being recorded previously.
