With online business registration facility, is decentralization really necessary?

Editor,

I read with keen interest your Editorial in yesterday’s issue of The New Times.

As you have very rightly said, ICT has helped bring most of the services provided by RDB closer to the people. One such service is the efficient online business registration facility which enables a person, not just from any part of the country, but from any part of the world to complete a business registration.

The Government’s strong focus on ICT over the past several years would also mean that computer literacy is now widely prevalent even in remote parts of the country and a start-up could easily avail of the required assistance locally, to complete an online registration.

Furthermore, I do believe that the Private Sector Federation (PSF), under the able guidance of Chairman Faustin Mbundu, would have members all over the country who could be approached and who would be happy to assist, in case any help is needed in completing an online registration.

Finally, please allow me to add that during my extensive travel through the provinces, last year, I did come across RDB Facilitation Units in some remote areas and, for sure, these units would render the necessary assistance to one and all.
