Beauty:Wearing suspenders in style

I have loved Larry King forever not because of his witty kind of journalism but also for his dress code. Larry King no doubt made suspenders his trademark and they have worked really well for him. Just a mention of his name and the first thing you picture is a man seated on his desk for an interview, but never missing a pair of suspenders in his dressing.

For a long time I have loved suspenders and what they represent. These pieces of accessory are not only favourable to men but to women as well. What designers and fashionistas like about suspenders is the fact that they can alter the entire appearance of an outfit and make you look more sophisticated and chic at the same time.

Suspenders have always been there, but they were exclusively worn by men. Long before Coco Chanel came to be, no woman dared to wear suspenders, because it was said to be a man's only accessory. This myth was brought down by the great Fashion icon and legend that is Coco Chanel. In 2006, suspenders made a come back, but this season suspenders have hit the fashion scene in a huge way like it has never been seen before, making their way from menswear to women's must have accessory.

Long gone are the days when suspenders were left to the grandfathers, with the sole purpose of holding up their trousers against their big pot bellies. They are now seen as a must have accessory that add style to the wearer. Celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian, Rihanna and Beyonce have all been spotted wearing their ultra thin suspenders in style.

Now when it comes to fashion, some rules have to be applied when wearing certain accessories like the suspenders. First and foremost a suspender has to be worn over a shirt and never a tee-shirt. For office wear, a plain white shirt or any other plain colour, will do just like the Larry King style.

When wearing the suspenders the colour of the shirt should be another colour so as to provide contrast to the pants and to the suspenders as well. The shirt must have a hard collar to prevent curled collar ends, and must also be tucked in for the suspenders to be relevant.

One thing that every fashionista agrees upon is that a suspender gives the wearer that desired classic look; and thus must be worn with classic clothes-making them very delicate pieces of accessory. But this does not mean that they cannot be worn on a weekend. A pair of cotton walking shorts can be a very nice choice to be paired with suspenders on a weekend. Skinny jeans paired with suspenders are also the way to go when dressing for the weekend.

For skirt lovers, you are not left behind either; a suspender will look great when worn with a short pencil skirt for that office meeting. Which ever way you want to wear your suspenders, make sure you do it with style so that it gives you that edgy look.

Thanks to fashion evolution, suspenders have also become among the classic pieces of accessory that every today woman should not miss in her collection.
